Safety First

I would like to share a little bit behind the scene here at Angi Randall Photography. Well, kind of behind the scene. It really is about the baby’s safety. The image I am going to share is a popular pose in the newborn portrait industry and is not a pose that a baby would be typically scene doing. It is more of an artsy pose and really about the skill level of the photographer and how to keep the baby safe. I have done this pose many times and there are a few factors that are consindered in getting this pose, and let me tell you that not every baby will co-operate.

Anyway…here is the image:

Once I get baby into place, I will always use the parents to help me out and to keep the baby’s head supported. The hands never go far from baby. Even if I get lucky and get a baby to balance on it’s own…the parents’ hands are only maybe an inch or two away from the head and parents never take their eyes off the baby. Once the baby starts moving or losing balance I have the parents put hands back on the head. And we will be done with the pose. I would say 98% of the time I am photoshopping arms and hands out.

My number one priority at Angi Randall Photography is to keep the babies I photograph safe. Babies are delicate and precious and I DO NOT want anything to happen to them.

So, all in all, if you are looking for a newborn photographer…make sure that the photographer you are seeking has experience in photographing newborns and has the safety of your newborn child as a #1 priority. Not every photographer is cut out to photograph newborns, because newborns take time, patience and skill. Most of us who specialize in Newborn Photography have gone to classes to teach us some of these skills to work with your special bundle of joy and continue to learn all we can to make sure your newborn stays SAFE.

Elodie – 6 Days New

Here is Miss Elodie. She blessed me with her presence today and she was perfect. She was such a sleepy little peanut and really, really relaxed. And, I enjoyed watching her parents swoon over her. I can tell they are going to be AWESOME parents. I do have to giggle as she was an explosive little one…TWICE.

Baby Lexi – 8 Days New

OMG…Baby Lexi was such a little peanut. Her mama brought her in at 8 days new. I could have cuddled her all day long Baby Lexi was a trooper and she slept pretty darn good through out the session. We did have to stop and feed her briefly during the session, but then she zonked right back out. I may have made her a thumb sucker at the end…hehe

Mr. Carter – Four Months

I just absolutely love this little man. He has one of the cutest faces I have seen. I love all the hairs on his head and his eyes just draw you right in.

He was unsure in the beginning of the session, but we worked through and at the end we captured some smiles. I always try and get a couple smiles during the session. I know I love the somber, dreamy, serious, etc. faces on babies and kiddos, but I know how some moms really love those smiley ones too Don’t you all agree?

Miss Hadley – 12 Days New

Miss Hadley was 12 days new when she came in for her portrait debut. She decided she didn’t want to sleep for me in the beginning. But, she eventually fell asleep to la la land. That is when the magic happens. Miss Hadley even gave me a smile or two. I love watching them sleep and I love when they smile in their sleep. She is one beautiful baby girl

Stella – 7 Days New

What a bundle of cuteness!?! Miss Stella’s parents brought her into the studio at seven days new. She was so petite and perfect. She did very well during her session once she decided to sleep. And I love that she let me do one of the hardest poses that is all the rage these days. I love doing the hands under the chin pose even though a baby can’t really support themselves this way yet.

Here is Miss Mallory at eight months old. She is such a beautiful little girl with those big eyes and round little cheeks. I seriously just want to pinch those cheeks and in baby-talk language tell her how adorable she is. I giggle at myself just thinkin’ about talking baby talk…lol
